Justin Bieber Arrested – No not For Crimes against Music
Popular pop star Justin Bieber has (finally) been arrested, however not for crimes against music or for not pulling up his jeans. No he has been arrested on quite a serious charge of driving under the influence and drag racing in Miami, according to local police reports. Apparently he was stopped early this morning in South Florida whilst driving a Lamborghini which was rented. He is still currently being held in custody, awaiting a statement from the police before he can be moved.
The wannabe bad boy of pop has recently being in the spotlight with the police in California, after his home was raided by police over claims he pelted his neighbour’s house with eggs. During the search of the home (for eggs) police came across rapper Lil Za who is part of Biebers ‘entourage’ and arrested him for possession of ecstasy and un-prescribed Xanax. Also in the past, U.S.-Canada border seized marijuana and drug paraphernalia from a tour bus used by Bieber, however the little bad boy was not on board at the time and no charges were filled.
It does seem like Bieber is trying to roughen up his image with his antics, apparently there are also reports that he is addicted to a codeine mixture known as “sizzurp,” and dabbles with prescription drugs and has been urged to go into rehab.
A Miami Dade-Police spokesperson told WSVN in South Florida that they saw two cars racing at 4.09am. It appears that the on Pine Tree Drive and 26th Street was blocked off by cars to other traffic so a race could take place. According to police Justin Bieber who was in a yellow Lamborghini failed a sobriety test. Driving the other car was a friend of Bieber, R&B singer known as Khalil, he was also arrested. The pair were taken to a police station for a breathalyser and for processing.
Police spokesman Raymond Martinez said at a press conference: “Bieber’s car was going at 55-60mph, almost double the speed limit before his arrest. He was belligerent and had used some choice words when he was arrested but was not violent.”
According to reports he had taken prescription drugs, been drinking beer and smoking Marijuana the day and night before the incident. However these reports have not yet been confirmed. In the US for those under 21 you are under the influence if you have a blood-alcohol content of .02 percent or more which for many is little more than a drink. If it is a first DUI arrest there is no minimum sentence and the maximum is six months, a fine of $250 to $500, and 50 hours of community service. If you are under 21 there is also an automatic six-month license suspension. For those caught drag racing (the other offence Bieber was arrested for) you could receive a sentence of up to six months, a fine of $500 to $1,000, and a one-year license suspension.
Earlier that night Justin had been photographed heading away from a club in Miami with model Chantal Jeffries who has also dated a string of high profile suitors.
