A White Helmet rider jumps through fire as pictures chart the 90 year history of the Army's brilliant motorbike display team ahead of their final performance next month

A gallery of photographs showing the 90 year history of the White Helmets Army motorbike display team has been released ahead of their final performance.
The group - dubbed 'the Red Arrows on wheels' - have thrilled crowds with daredevil displays since forming in 1927.
But Army bosses are now axing the team in what is believed to be a cost-cutting move.
Pictures showing riders leaping through rings of fire, forming motorcycle human pyramids and crashing through brick walls have now emerged.

Colonel Christopher Blessington, who was White Helmets team captain in the 60s, said: "In my view it's a huge shame to lose the team, I'll be terribly sad to see them go.
"I don't see how anyone can argue that they're stale or obsolete, they still draw crowds wherever they go.
"In disbanding the White Helmets we are losing our heritage and regimental history.
"In truth I don't know why this decision has been made, I'm as gobsmacked as everyone else, but it could have something to do with penny counting.

"I can't help thinking that this is more about cost cutting than relevance."
The display team was originally made up of daring First World War dispatch riders.
Since WWII the team has fulfilled an impressive list of annual engagements including visits to Germany, America, Canada, Australia, France, Hong Kong and Spain.
They have continued to use motorcycles provided by Triumph.
