Portuguese Henriques and French Diniz Champions in 50 Km March
London, Aug 13 (Prensa Latina) The Portuguese female march walker Inês Henriques and French male Yohann Diniz turned today into the first world champion in the march of 50 kilometers, the lady with record of 4:05:56 hours, the first world record in the World Cup in London.
Chinese Han Yin, silver with 4:08:58 , new record of Asia, and Shuqing Yang, bronze with 4:20:49, accompanied the champion in the podium.
With the Portuguese flag in her shoulders, Henriques said that this victory is for all the women of the world.
'Today we gave one more step for the equality between men and women', added the 37-year-old female march walker after the first time that the ladies were disputing the longest walk event in World Cups.
French male march walker Yohann Diniz, world record holder, got the victory and the crown today in the male competition fore the 50 km march with record of 3:33:12 hours, a record for the competiion, in the 2017 World Cup of London.
Diniz, 39, completed a big career from the beginning to end, and got close to beating his own world record on the London tracing.
Japanese Hirooki Arai, silver with 3:41:17, and Kai Kobayashi, bronze with 3:41:19, completed the podium.
The French walker turned the third champion of Europe for this even t that achieves the world crown. Till now, it only had been obtained by Polish Robert Korzeniowski and German Hatwig Gauder.
For Latin America, the Mexican Horacio Nava was the best placed athlete in the competition, after finishing in the 16th place with 3:47:53 AM hours.
Ecuadorian Claudio Villanueva concluded in the 18th place, with a personal record of 3:49:27 hours.
